1. HISTORY DAY
This is the third year, Moose Lake students have participated in the Minnesota History Day Competition. Four students took part in the regional History Day event at UMD on Saturday, March 16. This year's theme was "A Turning Point in History". All students did an incredible job! Maddy Gamst, a seventh grade student, created an exhibit titled, "Dorothy Molter: Root Beer Lady and the BWCWA." Nicole Tekippe, a ninth grade student, created a documentary on "Sister Elizabeth Kenny: A Miracle for Polio." Finally, Ellie Riihiluoma and Lauren Ross featured a local story, and created a documentary called, "No Smoking or No Service: Establishing Non-Smoking Restaurants in Minnesota."Nicole, Ellie and Lauren are advancing to the state competition on Saturday, May 4th at the University of MN-Twin Cities. If you see any of the girls, be sure to congratulate all of their hard work!!!

There will be a History Club meeting THIS FRIDAY at 8 am in Miss J's room. We will be discussing the Depot and activities there. Students have been working (or need to get working!) on their exhibits on country schools for the Depot. This Friday, we will be going to the Depot to do further research. Students should finish their projects by the end of May to coordinate with the opening of the museum!

3. PERU!!
History Club members, along with Spanish students and Seniorita, have an opportunity to travel to Peru June 9-15, 2015. There will be an informational parent meeting on THURSDAY, MAY 9 at 5:30 in Ms. Olson's (Seniorita's) room. Please attend if you are interested....it's going to be a great trip!!
